What is Education? Collaborative exhibition with Portman Gallery

This Friday 18 November, there will be a public opening of an exhibition at the Portman Gallery in Morpeth Secondary School, displaying special materials from the Marx Memorial Library archives for International Education Week.

The exhibition explores the question 'What is Education For?,' with pamphlets, videos and photographs from the MML focusing on democratic learning, youth-led organisations and the power of protest. The library is proud to have provided some historically inspiring materials for the purposes of this display, which highlights the empowering nature of education, past and present. The materials will also be on display alongside an animation project highlighting self-expression, which has been produced by The Rainbow Collective with the Year 9 students of the school.

The exhibition will be up for a whole week following the opening this Friday from 17:30 until 20:00.
